Weekly Round Up

Not quite as hectic as last week, but here are the key events of the footballing world this week:

In the last 7 days it looks like Arsenal have lost all chance of silverware for yet another  season. They lost 4-0 to AC Milan in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie, and will need a miracle to come back now. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Sunderland on Saturday, losing 2-0 at the Stadium of Light. Concerns grow for the future of the club and Wenger faces himself under more pressure than at any other point in his 15 year spell at the club.

On Monday Mick McCarthy became the third sacked manager in the Premier League this season. The decision came after Wolves’ embarrassing 5-1 home defeat to local rivals West Bromich Albion last Sunday.

And this weekend saw the return of the FA Cup and despite no major upsets, underdogs Birmingham City and Stevenage Town did earn replays against clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
